Happy New Year!

January 9, 2011

In the good form of trying to start the New Year off right, I had the opportunity to do a photoshoot for a very talented jewelry designer, Sharamey Sandidge!  This was a new challenge for me, since most of the photos I’ve shot in the past have been living & breathing, large or landscape form.  In doing proper research to prepare for the shoot, I found that lighting jewelry is the most difficult part.  So, after much reading and searching, I built what’s called a “soft box”.  It wasn’t hard at all!  Having been through Interior Design school, you get lots of experience with building models, so this was a fun challenge!

In the end, (2) 11″ x 14″ photo mats, (3) lamps, (1) piece of foam core, (1) poster board and some trace paper became this!

And the end result turned out awesome!  I’m so proud of the photos, and can’t wait to take more!

The artist is the amazing Sharamey Sandidge. She’s also the most AMAZING hairstylist I’ve ever had! She asked me to photograph her jewelry so she can get her items on Etsy.com and start her own website. You can currently find her on facebook if you’re interested in purchasing any of her jewelry or seeing what else she has to offer.

Yeah I think I will! I want to show them all to her first though.

I was thinking after reading a bunch of stuff online that it was going to take forever to make, and after I went to Michaels to go buy all the stuff, I took a few liberties to make it a lot easier. Gives the inside of the box an infinity type of feel. Really cool! I’ll show it to you when you come over next time!

Thank you so much for capturing the light and love of Sharamey’s jewelry with your fantastic photography. I am a very proud Mommy of all that she creates. She makes the most beautiful jewelry & is such a talented hair artist as well. Talk about a lucky Mom :o ) And she is very excited about getting to show the world her creations thanks to your help and good eye!

  9. Well I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the images! I’m really pleased with how they turned out. She’s sooo very talented, it was a pleasure getting to do this with her!
